Is stem cell therapy for Knee Osteoarthritis FDA-approved?
The FDA consumer alert states that the promoted stem-cell and exosome products it addresses are not approved for knee pain or osteoarthritis. Verify any exact authorised product and indication; a same-day autologous procedure is not automatically exempt or approved.
How stem cells are studied for Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis is a whole-joint disorder involving cartilage, bone, synovium, muscle and mechanics. Autologous marrow or adipose preparations, culture-expanded MSCs, stromal vascular fraction and exosomes are distinct products. An anti-inflammatory signal or injection into the joint does not establish cartilage regrowth or prevention of joint replacement.
