Is stem cell therapy for Multiple Sclerosis worth it?
For selected highly active disease, AHSCT may merit assessment at an experienced specialist centre; that does not validate commercial MSC or exosome offers. Compare with established disease-modifying therapies and do not delay effective care without independent advice.
How stem cells are studied for Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is an immune-mediated central-nervous-system disorder that damages myelin, axons and neurons. Autologous haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (AHSCT) aims to rebuild the immune system after conditioning; it is fundamentally different from an MSC infusion marketed as neural repair. Neither approach should be described as replacing lost brain tissue or universally reversing disability.
