Question

How long does stem cell therapy for Multiple Sclerosis last?

Duration depends on intervention and disease phenotype. Longer follow-up from one AHSCT protocol cannot be transferred to an MSC infusion, and a short MRI or symptom change does not prove durable prevention of progression.

How stem cells are studied for Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an immune-mediated central-nervous-system disorder that damages myelin, axons and neurons. Autologous haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (AHSCT) aims to rebuild the immune system after conditioning; it is fundamentally different from an MSC infusion marketed as neural repair. Neither approach should be described as replacing lost brain tissue or universally reversing disability.
