Question

How long does stem cell therapy for Tendon & Sports Injuries last?

The timing and durability of any benefit and the risk of reinjury remain uncertain. Retrospective follow-up and anecdotes cannot establish a maintenance interval or lasting tissue repair. Trials should use prespecified pain, function, imaging and return-to-activity criteria with adequate follow-up and a defined rehabilitation programme.

How stem cells are studied for Tendon & Sports Injuries

Tendons transmit muscle force to bone and can develop acute tears or chronic degenerative tendinopathy. Healing and symptoms vary by tendon, load, vascularity, injury severity and rehabilitation. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), extracellular vesicles and other biological approaches are being studied for proposed effects on inflammation, vascular signalling and collagen organisation observed mainly in preclinical models. These mechanisms have not established stronger tendon tissue or faster safe return to sport in people. The registry table on this page lists relevant studies and their current recruitment status.
