Is stem cell therapy for Osteoporosis & Bone Health FDA-approved?
No regenerative medicine therapy is FDA-approved for osteoporosis. An IND-authorised trial or registry listing is not product approval. In Europe, a trial authorisation is distinct from EMA marketing authorisation. Patients should verify the exact product, sponsor, registry identifier, competent authority and ethics approval.
How stem cells are studied for Osteoporosis & Bone Health
Bone continuously remodels through osteoblast and osteoclast activity. Osteoporosis develops when bone strength declines and fracture risk increases because resorption and formation are imbalanced. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are being studied because of their osteogenic potential and paracrine signalling in preclinical models. These mechanisms have not established restored bone strength or fewer fractures in people, and cell therapy is not standard osteoporosis care. The registry table on this page lists relevant studies and their current recruitment status.
