Is stem cell therapy for Osteoporosis & Bone Health worth it?
Current evidence does not support buying stem-cell therapy as routine osteoporosis care or as a lower-risk substitute for established treatment. The most defensible access is through a well-designed registered clinical trial with independent oversight, transparent costs and no promise of stronger bones or fewer fractures. Participation must not delay fracture-risk assessment, established medicines, nutrition, exercise or fall-prevention measures.
How stem cells are studied for Osteoporosis & Bone Health
Bone continuously remodels through osteoblast and osteoclast activity. Osteoporosis develops when bone strength declines and fracture risk increases because resorption and formation are imbalanced. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are being studied because of their osteogenic potential and paracrine signalling in preclinical models. These mechanisms have not established restored bone strength or fewer fractures in people, and cell therapy is not standard osteoporosis care. The registry table on this page lists relevant studies and their current recruitment status.
