Question

What is the success rate of stem cell therapy for Anemia?

There is no general stem-cell success rate for anaemia. For HSCT, outcomes depend on the exact disease, age, severity, donor match, regimen and centre; for an investigational product, review its own comparator, transfusion independence, blood counts, survival and adverse events.

What the evidence shows for Anemia

The NHLBI anaemia treatment guide explains cause-specific medicines, supplements, transfusion and, for selected conditions, blood or bone-marrow transplantation. HSCT replaces blood-forming stem cells and carries substantial conditioning, infection, rejection and graft-versus-host risks. Evidence for HSCT in a defined diagnosis cannot validate a stromal-cell, placental or exosome product marketed for fatigue or low haemoglobin.
