Is stem cell therapy for Diabetes (Type 1 & 2) worth it?
The answer depends on the exact authorised indication or research protocol, not the label cell therapy. A specialist independent of the seller should compare established diabetes technology and medicines, transplant options where relevant, protocol risks and total burden.
How stem cells are studied for Diabetes (Type 1 & 2)
Type 1 diabetes involves autoimmune loss of insulin-producing beta cells; Type 2 diabetes involves heterogeneous combinations of insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction. Research includes stem-cell-derived islets, donor islets, encapsulation, gene editing and immune modulation, but these are distinct technologies with different risks and regulatory status. A generic MSC infusion should not be equated with replacement of functional pancreatic islets.
