What is the recovery time after stem cell therapy for Diabetes (Type 1 & 2)?
Recovery depends on the route. Portal-vein islet infusion and immunosuppression have different risks from an intravenous investigational product. Glucose monitoring and prescribed treatment continue unless the responsible diabetes team changes them.
What the evidence shows for Diabetes (Type 1 & 2)
FDA-approved Lantidra (donislecel-jujn) is an allogeneic pancreatic-islet cellular therapy made from deceased-donor pancreatic cells for a narrow group of adults with Type 1 diabetes and recurrent severe hypoglycaemia despite intensive management. It is infused into the hepatic portal vein and requires concomitant immunosuppression; it is not a general stem-cell cure for Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. See the FDA Lantidra record and the NIDDK islet-transplant overview.
